The Hours of Service (HOS) Manual mobile application is developed by the Department of Transportation (DOT) Federal Railroad Administration (FRA). The primary purpose of the HOS Manual application is to provide clarification on hours of service requirements found at 49 CFR Part 228, Hours of Service Recordkeeping, and FRA hours of service interpretations and policies.

The app was developed using best practices for securely utilizing the Android Software Development Kit (SDK).  No API is used, and no third-party services are allowed direct access to the user’s device. The HOS Manual is sandboxed and cannot access other apps or share data between apps installed on the mobile device.

The DOT FRA provides transparency about the collection, utilization, and retention of user data through this Privacy Policy.
