The regulatory requirement for the preparation of this State Highway-Rail Grade Crossing Safety Action Plan, hereinafter Plan, is based on Georgia 2006, 2007, and 2008 train-road user collision data. Collision data from the broader and more current 2006-2010 period were used in the development of this Plan. (Also, the use of five year collision experience in evaluating crossing collision risk is customary, and is the period GDOT weighs most heavily in prioritizing highway-rail crossing safety improvements.)
