Suicide Reporting
Effective June 1, 2011, the Federal Railroad Administration revised its 225 Accident/Incident Reporting Guidance, requiring reporting of suicide incidents. The data in this report is not reported in our other dashboards or reports. In the following report, data for 2011 is only partial year data since the change became effective in June. This data is also subject to a reporting lag which may be significant. Casualties are required to be reported whether or not there is an official determination on the question of suicide. Therefore some casualties may be reported as non-suicide and thus be included in our other reports before being reclassified as a suicide at a later date and removed from the other reports.
