Statement of Federal Railroad Administrator Joseph H. Boardman on Findings of Focused Inspection on CSX Transportation

The results released today of an FRA focused inspection demonstrate that despite general improvement by CSX, the railroad is still not doing enough to make safety a top priority. Indeed, our FRA inspectors identified problems in every area of the company’s safety performance, including track, hazardous materials, and on-track equipment. The recommendation to assess 199 safety violations against CSX will be taken seriously as the federal investigation into the railroad’s safety program continues.
