Movement Approvals

FRA has the authority to issue one-time movement approvals (OTMAs) for bulk packages that no longer conform to the hazardous materials regulations contained in 49 CFR § 174.50. OTMAs are required for movement of nonconforming tank cars or any other bulk nonconforming packages designed, marked, or otherwise represented for the transportation of hazardous material.
